Freelancers and Designers Selling Templates: Aggregating Gumroad + Lemon Squeezy + Stripe Without a Spreadsheet

Freelancers and designers who sell digital templates often end up spread across three platforms with three different fee structures. Here's how to actually track what you keep.

Selling design templates or digital products as a freelancer often means being present everywhere your potential buyers already are — which in practice means Gumroad for the built-in discovery, Lemon Squeezy for the cleaner checkout experience some buyers prefer, and sometimes a direct Stripe checkout for repeat clients who'd rather not go through a marketplace at all.

Three platforms, three completely different fee logics

Gumroad: 10% + $0.50 plus separate card processing on direct sales, or a flat 30% if the sale came through Discover. Lemon Squeezy: roughly 5% + $0.50 as a Merchant of Record, with surcharges on international cards and PayPal. Stripe direct: 2.9% + $0.30, with you handling your own tax obligations on every sale.

The real question: which channel is actually worth the effort

A template that sells for $40 nets roughly $34 on Gumroad direct, $28 through Discover, about $37 through Lemon Squeezy, and about $38.50 through a direct Stripe checkout (before you account for the marketing effort each channel requires to generate that sale). Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy bring in buyers who wouldn't have found you otherwise — that's worth something even at a lower net rate. Direct Stripe sales, usually from your own audience or repeat clients, keep more of each sale but require you to already have the relationship.

Why tracking this by hand gets old fast

Three different CSV exports, three different fee logics, and no native way to see your blended net rate across all three without doing the math manually every time you want to check how a launch actually performed.

Simeon connects Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, and Stripe into one view, so you can see which channel is actually earning its keep without rebuilding a spreadsheet every month.
