Shopify shows you sales. Not your combined net if you sell elsewhere too.

Shopify Payments charges 2.9% + $0.30 standard, with no additional transaction fees. But the moment you use a third-party gateway, Shopify adds 0.5% to 2% in transaction fees on top of the gateway's own fees — a double layer that Shopify's dashboard doesn't always isolate clearly.

What Shopify doesn't make easy to see

• Shopify Payments: 2.9% + $0.30, with declining rates on higher-tier plans (Shopify, Advanced).

• Third-party gateway (external Stripe, PayPal, etc.): + 0.5% to 2% Shopify transaction fee on top of the gateway's own fees — a merchant using PayPal through Shopify pays both PayPal's commission AND Shopify's.

• If you also sell on Gumroad, Etsy, or directly through Stripe, Shopify obviously consolidates none of it.
