Stripe shows you transactions. Not what you actually kept.
Stripe is excellent at collecting money. It's a lot less good at telling you, in one glance, how much you actually made this month — net of fees, converted to your reporting currency, combined with whatever you collect elsewhere (Shopify, Gumroad, Paddle, or any other provider).

What Stripe doesn't show you
Stripe's advertised rate — 2.9% + $0.30 for a domestic US card (1.5% + €0.25 in the eurozone) — is accurate for a single-currency domestic sale. Most Stripe accounts aren't in that situation:
International cards: +1.5% cross-border fee, not broken out as a separate line item in the default dashboard.
Currency conversion: roughly 1% above the mid-market rate when payouts happen in a different currency than the charge.
Chargebacks: a $15 fee deducted immediately on dispute, refundable only if you win.
Multi-provider: if you also collect via Shopify, Paddle, or Gumroad, each platform calculates and displays fees differently. Comparing Stripe and Gumroad dashboards side by side means comparing numbers computed with different methodologies.
Simeon pulls exact gross_amount, fee_amount, and net_amount per transaction via Stripe's read-only API — the same data Stripe uses internally for payouts — and normalizes it against every other provider you connect.
Worked example
A $100 domestic sale: $2.90 + $0.30 = $3.20 in fees → you keep $96.80. The same $100 from an international card: $2.90 + $0.30 + $1.50 cross-border + ~$0.80 FX spread = $5.50 in fees → you keep $94.50.
